About Valfasam Care Initiative (VCI):
Valfasam Care Initiative (VCI) is a non-governmental organization committed to fostering peace and socio-economic development through capacity enhancement, protection, WASH, education, advocacy, and livelihood improvement. Operating in Adamawa State and beyond, we prioritize community engagement, accountability, and gender equality in delivering impactful programs to vulnerable populations. As part of our commitment to excellence, we seek a highly motivated and qualified individual to join our team as a Finance Intern.
Position Details
– Job Title: Finance Intern
– Location: Yola, Adamawa State
– Employment Type: 6 Months Contract
– Reports To: Finance Manager
– Preference: Female (Single candidates strongly encouraged to apply)
– Age Requirement: 25–30 years
– Residency: Candidates must reside in the North Eastern part of Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities
The Finance Intern will support the Finance Manager in ensuring sound financial management, compliance, and accountability. Responsibilities include:
1. Financial Management:
– Assist in the preparation of budgets, financial statements, and management reports.
– Monitor and track financial transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
– Maintain and update financial records in line with VCI’s financial policies.
2. Compliance and Audit Support:
– Ensure adherence to organizational policies and donor regulations.
– Support internal and external audit processes by providing required documentation.
3. Cash and Bank Management:
– Process payments and maintain accurate cash flow records.
– Reconcile bank accounts monthly and resolve any discrepancies.
4. Payroll Administration:
– Assist in the preparation and disbursement of staff salaries.
– Ensure accurate computation and remittance of statutory deductions.
5. Capacity Building:
– Provide training and support to team members on financial procedures.
6. Risk Management:
– Identify potential financial risks and propose mitigation strategies.
Qualifications and Experience
– A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
– Completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program (mandatory).
– At least 2 years of professional experience in finance, accounting, or a related role.
– Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite.
– Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
– High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

– Sound knowledge of financial regulations and best practices.
– Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural team environment.
– Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
